Filtration

In science today we are doing a filtering experiment and this is what we did.
Aim:

To make a mixture and separate it with filtration
Hypothesis:

I think both the mixtures might filtrate together.
Method:
1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate. 3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask. 5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel. 6. Observe what happened.
Observation:1. We put 2 chemicals called Copper Sulfate and Sodium Carbonate together in a beaker and it went a little foggy and blue
2. When they were filtered all the way there were a blue thicker stuff at the top and white foggy liquid

I think the blue stayed up the top because it was thicker when we put the 2 chemicals together and the clear just came out.
