'Conservation'

  • Climate Science
  • Global Warming
  • Recycling
  • Renewable Energy
  • Fossil Fuels
  • Ecology
  • Our Planet
  • Water
  • Plants
  1. 15 Points are needed to get a badge
  2. A high standard of work.
  • All experiments are written up ( Aim, Materials, Steps, Conclusion)
  • Two photos of your experiment
  • 6 sentences at least for a conclusion

Science will be twice per week.

  • Lesson 1: This will be an Experiment that involves blogging. You will be expected to open a new post, copy Mr Palmer's blog and paste it on your new post.
  • Lesson 2: This will be an Investigation that relates to the topic from Lesson 1. It will be own choice and displayed in a way that you prefer. For example - PowerPoint, Doc, etc

BLOGGING.

All the blogs and science lessons will be displayed on Mr Palmers blog:

Bookmark it!

Expectations:
  • 1 blog must be completed per Hurumanu lesson.
  • A completed blog must have the four headings ( Aim, Method, Findings, Conclusion), correct writing and punctuation under each heading and be published. No post, no points.
  • 2 images of the experiment / investigation on the blog.
Using the Scientific method of investigation:

Aim: What the experiment / investigation is about.
Method: Instructions on how the experiment / investigation is carried out. This includes the equipment.
Findings: What have we learnt or found out from our experiment / investigation. This is called Data, Information or Facts. It is displayed in a chart, table or picture.
Conclusion:

My Hurumanu Science Goals:

1. Try to get my work finished.

2. Try not to get bored doing my work. I will try and make my investigations interesting.

3.  Leave stuff alone we are not allowed to use or stuff that's not mine.

What we are grateful for

Today in CIP we had to make a poster of what we were grateful for. This is just a poster of the small thing I thought of that I am grateful for.

Hope you like my poster.

Bench ball

In PE this morning we played bench ball and the classes had to answer some questions about teamwork and make some rules about bench ball.

How you play bench ball is you get in a team ( my team was the same team that we played Ki O Rahi in) and you set up a court with 2 benches at each end. Then one of the players stands on the bench and the rest of the team go and pass the ball up to the person on the bench. Your not allowed to run or walk with the ball and your also not allowed to hit the ball out of the persons hands. How you win is to get everyone on the team onto the bench, also if your the last person you can bounce the ball once then throw it to people on the bench.

My team from Ki O Rahi worked on inclusion and positive attitudes playing the game. Because in Ki O Rahi and playing football we did OK but we thought we could do better.

We did pretty good with inclusion and positive attitudes when playing the game of bench ball.  We played better together than we did in Ki O Rahi at least that's what I think I don't know if my team thinks that but I do.

Chromatography/ With coloured pens

Today in home chemistry we are learning about Chromatography. The Chromatography we are learning about is putting felt pens on a piece of paper then putting the end of the paper in water and putting skittles in water and waiting for the result.

Materials;

1. A piece of chromatography paper
2. A pencil and ruler
3. A cup of water
4. Felt water based pens, we did red, black and green
5.  A Chromebook or I pad to get photos
6. A Chromebook or i pad to do a blog post about it

Process:

Step 1: We got the chromatography paper and we write lines on each end, one end was 1 cm and the other end was 2 cm
Step 2: We put 3 dots with 3 colours on the line
Step 3: After that we put the paper in the water and let it sit
Step 4: We got our Chromebooks out to take some photos
Step 5: We got some photos on our camera
Step 6: We had to start doing a blog post about what we did

Findings: Write about what happened. At the start it was just wet paper but after a while a few different colours came out of just the 3 colours. I can't remember exactly what the colours were but I knew there was about 6 or 7 on the 1 piece of paper. After that we let it sit and moved on to a different experiment

Reflection: What have I learnt from this experiment?

I hope you like my science work, bye
