In wanaga we started reading Romeo and Juliet, the whole class is reading it together and are differnet characters in the story. I am the narirator person and I basically set the scene of whatr is happening before the characters srart speaking. I have heard of Romeo and Juliet but I havent actually read it before. Were reading the original way it was written and the way people worded it so it still fits the story but it is easier to understand.

Why are we reading this text? Because our teacher wanted us to read some sort of shakesphere in wanaga and the class vited for Romeo and Juliet at the end of last term Im pretty sure. 

Ocean pollution - Social studies

 In social studies we have been learning about littering and ocean pollution. We had to write a news article/just write down imformation in a way people can understand.

Plastic pollution

Plastic has been around since about 1950 and since then plastic has been getting in our oceans. Ever since then the ocean has had more and more plastic in the ocean which is not the best for lives in the sea. The animals don´t get that plastic is not food and they eat it like normal. The bad thing with that is that the plastic does not go down like normla food and stays in their stomach until it kills them. One animal that is really affected by this is dolphins. Because every single time they go up to the top of the ocean for air, they clean out all the Phytoplankton from the ocean and gives us oxygen to breath. But since the plastic is killing our sea life whive also includes dolphins this stop this cycle. 

But there is something we can do, we can srart by putting stuff in the bind in gdeneral. Another step is that you can put your rubbish in the right bins eg, the red, green and yellow bins. So everything does not get taken to the dump where theres a chance it can blow away to the ocean.

When we get that down we can stop using as much plastic as we do right now, or if we do use plastic we cna use reusable and not one use plastic. If we all do our part we can save the ocean and animals.

In wanaga we watched a video of Denzel Washington giving a speech about resileince and what it feels like to be a failure. Denzel did not have a good like around 20 years old school wasn´t working out for him, acting wasn´t really working out and a lot more things. But one day when he was at his mums work this elderly lady went and gave him a little speech about what will probably happen in his future. Well years later everything that woman said came true and he i pretty succesful now, but he doesn´t forget his past and all the fails that happened.

Why are we reading/watching this text? So when we think we can´t do things, we can listen to his story see where he came from and then be inspired. Most poeple just focus on the positives but he focused on the positives and negatives.

The ocean - Social studies

 In social studies were learning about plasdtic poloution. Wednesday and Thursday our class watched videos on what we can. I wasnt at school on Thursday but I can tell you about what we learned about on Wednesday.

On Wednesday we watched 2 videos on climete change, and we had to answeer 3 questions about each video

 So there are 6 questions in total.

What did the video show us / encourage us to think about? That climate change is killing the ocean, the water is warming up and how we're ruining the ocean.

What do you think? I think we should stop not putting stuff in rubbish bins/putting everything in the bin that goes to the dump.

What can be done? Put more stuff in the recycling bin, stop littering, stop making as much mess.

What did the video show us / encourage us to think about? How much plastic get to the ocean, what they are doing to try stop it, 

What do you think? I think it's cool they're trying to get all the plastic from the ocean, and they're trying to stop plastic waste.

What can be done? Stop using plastic as much, use reusable plastic more and not 1 use as much.

The video was talking about waste specifically in the ocean and how much rubbish is in there. People are going through the ocean cleaning up other peoples mess. But we can help them stop the waste. We can all put stuff in the correct bin/put stuff in a bin in general, so theres no litter or a lot of the waste is cleaned up.

Social studies

 In social studies were learning about the enviorment and how litter/plastic affects the enviorment. Today we had to go around the school in groups and pick up rubish.

Climate change - Social studies

 In social studies were learning about climate change and what is happening to our planet. We had to go on the wedsite The Happ Broadcast and look at some articles about the good things happening to our planet.

1. In indonesia people picked up all the rubish from 4 beaches, it weighed about the ammount of 57 cars.

2. People in Sweden came up with a new fitness exersise called plogging where you pick up rubish while jogging.

3. Scottland has decided to protect 30% of the wilderness and animals.
