Writing About the Happier Music Video

Today we had to write about what happens in the happier music video, we had to choose if we wanted to be dog or the girl. I chose to be the girl and this is what I came up with writing about this topic.

My writing:

On my 10th birthday I wasn't having a perfect day, I don't know why but I wasn't. What made my day worse was, when I was blowing out my candles someone else in my family blew them out before I got to. That made me really upset and one single tear dripped down my face but no one saw it. When I wiped away my tear without anyone looking my dad gave me 2 yellow bows, I didn't know why he gave me 2 until this happened. My dad got me the fluffiest golden retriever and that made my day and I was so happy my dad got it for me. A few minutes later my dad took a picture of me holding my puppy that I named Lilly.

Ever since I got Lily I did everything with her, even when my parents checked how tall I was I always checked how tall Lilly was as well. I was basically inseparable from Lilly. I was with Lilly always except from when I was at school. A few years after I got Lilly I was at school doing PE we were playing football. The teachers chose some captions and the captions picked kids to go on their team. No one wanted to pick me and I was last to go on a team, also the class was taking a photo at the end. I was at the front and another girl pushed me to the back because she wanted to be at the front. The teacher told she class to smile and we all did, I was the only one with braces so when I smiled all the girls saw me they all laughed.

After school I was so sad after what happened at PE and I just slumped on the couch about to cry. But before I was about to cry Lilly was knocking on the door and she wanted to come in. She always made me happy but I didn't think she would this time, but she did. I don't know why but Lilly always makes me feel better every time I feel sad.

A year went by I was just coming home from school, I got changed and went down to play with Lilly. But when I got down to see Lilly she was laying on the floor and she looked so so sick. We rushed Lilly to the vet hoping we would get good news. But when the vet came and told us the news I just started crying so much because Lilly had to get put down. I've had her for so long and I didn't want to say goodbye. I was allowed to have 5 minutes with her until she had to go. I was rubbing her favourite spot until she had to go. After 5 minutes past I was just crying when the vet took her away.

Fast forward twenty years, and my daughter is having her birthday party. She was turning 10 years old and her 10th birthday felt so similar to mine. She even felt the same way that I did on my 10th and she got a box from my dad. It had a red bow in it, it looked so similar to the yellow bow I got. Then I thought what if my dad got her a golden retriever puppy. My dad came back with a puppy that looked so much like Lilly a tear just came down my face. I wiped it away and luckily no one saw it, when I wiped it away. After that my dad took a photo and put it next to my 10 year old picture.

  1. Beautiful creative writing, Danielle! I am really pleased with how this turned out. You have great punctuation and I felt so many emotions reading your story. I would just check about Lily the dog. Sometimes you spelled her name Lily and by the end, it was Lilly. Consistency is key!
