Black death

 Rats and fleas carried the black death on them just going around Europe. Basically rats had the black death and they were bit by fleas. Then the fleas would bite humans which would give them the black death. Once humans caught the black death they started showing a series of symptoms.

Black death

Why did the black death spread so quickly.

 People in the middle ages unknowingly spread the black death across Europe in 1347. This matters because they didn't know it was happening. Also it's a really deadly virus that could literally kill you in days. Trading ships from Asia went across all of Europe with food. Some of the people on the boats had the black death without them knowing. Which also spread it pretty quickly. The spread of death heavily destroyed Europe with 75 million death.

Slam dunk

What was life like in the middle ages? Interestingly the rich and poor were very different but have a couple of similarities. Both had poo underneath their houses weather it was really small or in a castle. Because people just throw their poo out the window when they were done with it. It also had a lot of rubbish everywhere and wasn't clean at all for anyone, even though the rich people had more. Rats were around quite a bit in the middle ages because again it was so dirty and rats liked it. This is important because this is one of the reasons the black death spread through Europe pretty quickly. The middle ages were disgusting.

Tea bag experiment

In science today we learned about convention and conduction. Conduction is when you can touch something and the heat will go onto whatever you touched it with. Convention is when you don't have to touch anything to get it how/give heat to anything else.
The experiment we did today was getting tea bags and either with a match or a lighter set it on fire and see what it does. First we had to cut the top of the tea bag off and actually get the tea out. We then stood the tea bag up to it was standing on its own on the heat proof mat. Most of my team preferred light lighters but some people liked matches. When all the flames were gone it flew and turned into ash. It was pretty fun we got to do it a few times with different tea bags.

Evaporation

We are learning about evaporation which basically is when water come to into the clouds when it gets drys. They are turning into a gas while they are doing this. 

Aim: To evaporate  copper sulfate to form a solute

Hypothesises: I think after we evaporate it it will turn to a dark blue solid

Equipment: Beacer, element, evaporation dish, copper solfate, heat proof mat, 

Method:
  1. Set up element

  2. Add 100mL of hot water to the beaker and place on the element.

  3. Add copper sulfate to the evaporating basin until it is quarter full.

  4. Carefully, place the the evaporating basin on top of the beaker. 

  5. Turn on the element to 3

  6. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute are forming. 

  7. Turn off the element- careful not to touch as will be hot for a long time.


Observation :

When it started to get warmer some bubbles started to form, then after a while some condensation and steam started to form.

Conclusion:
The solids in copper sulfate couldn't evaporate so they just turned into crystals on the side of the dish, and the liquid just evaporated into air.
